The optimal height of a flatscreen TV should be at eye level. So if the TV is in a living room you should measure the height of your eyes in a seated position and center the TV to that height. Same goes for a games room where you'll be standing most of the time and as high as possible in a bedroom as you'll be lying down while watching.
