CUT THE HOLE TO FIT THE PATCH
If you are patching a hole in a wall, in a metal object or anything else, cut the hole to fit the patch, not the other way around. This will save hours of tedious labor.

ACT WHEN YOU FIRST THINK ABOUT IT
Sailors have a useful saying: "The time to reef (reduce sail) is when you first think about it. This expression can be applied to life as a whole.

BROWNIES ARE DONE
Cook brownies only for as long as it takes to smell them cooking - if left in the oven for as long as the box says, they will be overdone. Also, before adding the eggs, put them in a small bowl of water. If they float, they're past their freshness.

Appliances
NEVER BUY OVER THE JUMP
When buying electronic appliances or computer parts price increases steadily up to the newer/better models UNTIL the increase is noticably larger to the next model. Always buy the model before this larger increase and you won't be sorry because of the model becoming a whole lot cheaper 2 weeks later.
