REJECTING OPTIONS
At the dining hall or the grocery store, never take the last of anything. There might be a reason it's still there.

ACUTAL HARD DRIVE CAPACITY
When you buy a hard drive, expect the actual capacity to be about 93% of the advertised capacity. For example, you'll be able to store about 112 GB of data on a 120 GB hard drive.

QUICK PHYSICS TRICK
When solving physics problems, always use 10 m/s^2 for the value of g, the acceleration due to gravity. It's close enough to the actual value of 9.8 m/s^2 and you're much less likely to make a silly math mistake. Don't use this rule if you work for NASA.

WEIGHT OF BOTTLE - QUALITY OF WINE
The heavier the bottle, normally the better the wine. Especially true for new world wines.

STYLE OF WINE - LABEL
If a wine label is modern, has critters on it, or is funky in any non-traditional way then it's likely going to be fruiter, more tannic, and higher in alcohol. In the "New World Style".

TWISTS TO REMOVE A CHAMPAGNE CORK
The cage (the metal part that holds the cork in place) takes 6 1/2 twists to remove. No more, no less. Bet money on it.

SERVING RED WINE
Red wines normally need a slight chill. They should be served at room temp - but, that means European CELLAR temp. Not your living room (unless it's 62*)

CLEARING DRAINS
Pour a half-cup of vinegar and a half-cup of baking soda down your drain once every week to avoid clogs. And it's a lot easier on your pipes (and lungs) than Drano.

NO SHOTS AFTER MIDNIGHT
It doesn't matter how much fun you're having or how clever the name of the drink is, shot are never a good idea after midnight. You will always be sorry in the morning.
