WEAR A LIFE JACKET
You wouldn't leave the dock without your life jacket to go out over 25 foot+ deep water, why not wear it on the ice. LOTS of variables affect ice conditions - too many to ever completely understand.

NEVER PASS UP AN OPPORTUNITY TO PEE
If you are ever in the vicinity of a restroom whether in an airport or at a restaurant while on a road trip, always attempt to pee. Especially if you are traveling with children!

PROJECT DURATION TIME ESTIMATE
When estimating how long a project will take to complete, start with your best guess. Double the numeric part and use the next higher time unit. This value will be closer to reality. For example: A "short" two day project will actually take four weeks to complete. It always works out this way.

BACKING A TRAILER
Don't use your mirrors. Just turn your body so you're looking out the back window, and everything becomes much easier. Also, make small corrections. Large corrections compound themselves and you'll have to stop & pull forward to straighten out.

CHANGING FOOD
As a rule of thumb, when introducing a cat to new food, allow them 3 days to pout before you decide to get a different food. The logic is that, if you were locked in a house for three days without food, you'd eat the new cat food to stay alive and you are human.
