STAYING SAFELY IN YOUR LANE
Keep your eyes on or beyond the car in front of you. In light traffic, watch the horizon. Your hands will naturally steer slowly as the preceding car (or the road) begins to turn. If you're concentrating on the road right in front of you, you will steer too abruptly.

REGAINING YOUR BEARINGS
If you become lost in flight and fuel is not a critical issue, climb. You will gain more perspective on landmarks, increase your radio range, and buy gliding time in case of an emergency.

MAKE FLYERS AND HANDOUTS MORE EFFECTIVE
If you're selling a content-based product, make sure that flyers feature compelling examples of the actual content, not just hype text or slogans. Not only will it create value for the flyer (decreasing the chances it will be discarded), it weeds out people who are not interested in your specific product.

FIRST-TIME CONFIGURATION COROLLARY
This is a corollary to the 'First-Time Complex System Configuration' rule-of-thumb. When esimating the time to complete a new project, take your best estimate, double it and take it to the next order of magnitude.

ALLOTTING TIME FOR EFFICIENT WORK
An engrossing task will require fifteen minutes' work before the worker begins to get into a groove. Too much multi-tasking will decrease productivity across all tasks.

WRITING BELIEVABLE PLOT TWISTS
Coincidences in fiction will only be accepted as plausible by the reader if they harm or set back the protagonist. The only luck the reader will believe is bad luck.

HIRING EXCELLENT SOFTWARE ENGINEERS
You will have to review roughly 1000 resumes to find one (1) outstanding software engineer that you can hire. This is sometimes broken down as: review 10 resumes to find one candidate worth calling; call 10 candidates to find one worth bringing in for an interview; interview 10 candidates to find one worth hiring.
