ENTERING THE ZONE ON A 3 ON 0
When playing ice hockey, a good rule of thumb for forwards entering the offensive zone is: first player to the puck, second player to the net, and third player to the high slot (between the face-off circles in front of the net.)

Movies and Film
WHEN TO GIVE UP ON A MOVIE
If you get the urge to walk out on a movie after ten minutes, stick with it; you'll probably settle in. If you get the urge to walk out on a movie after 45 minutes, you're probably right; it's not going to get better.

LETTING A CAT OUT IN THE SNOW

PLANNING AN ECLIPSE VACATION CROWD
There are between 6,000 and 10,000 people who will go halfway around the world to see a total solar eclipse, and maybe another 30-40 thousand who will check it out if it's a convenient trip. Travel agents who hype themselves into expecting crowds in the hundreds of thousands are dreaming; but they do it every time.

Education
CORRELATING MID-TERM AVERAGES TO A FINAL GRADE
In a required course in college, despite how much a student promises to study, or how much a professor encourages the students to work harder, about 75 percent of students will have the same final semester grade as their mid-term grade or average. Fifteen percent of students will go down one half grade from mid-term to final. Five percent of students will go up one half grade. Five percent of students will drop from a C or a D to an F or a W or an I.
