ON-LINE USERS RULE
If you get a group of 100 people online then one will create
current logic
, 10 will "interact" with it (commenting or offering improvements) and the other 89 will just view it. Quoting Charles Arthur in The Guardian, July 20, 2006.

BLINK-FREE GROUP PHOTO RULE
You need to take more than one photo of a group to get one without somebody blinking. For calculating the number of photos to take for groups of less than 20: divide the number of people by three if there's good light and two if the light's bad.
Dr. Piers Barnes, physicist

BET YOUR EGO ON YOUR READERS' ASSESSMENT
We all want to have the best-looking, most effective pages on the web. Unfortunately, our own opinions of our work are highly unreliable. The only opinions that matter are the opinions of your readers. Base your ego on that.

DON'T LEAVE EVERYTHING UP TO FLASH
Sure it's a great technology, but Flash has its limitations. Suppose you're publishing text-heavy articles — it makes no sense to try and do it all with Flash (HTML or even dHTML would be a much better choice since they're smaller and searchable). Whenever you find yourself relying too heavily on Flash's weak features, try layering Flash files with another Web technology that may do a better job (like dHTML, GIF, JPEG, or HTML)

MANAGING AUTHENTICATION STORES
In the world of IT security and institutional identity management, you probably don't want to consider combining authentication stores with anyone foolish enough to suggest doing so.

Dieting
EATING THE RIGHT AMOUNT
To estimate the amount of food you should eat at a sitting, clasp your hands together. If your meal is significantly bigger than that, you're eating more than your body needs.

MOUSE-PROOFING YOUR HOUSE
A mouse can squeeze through a space little bigger than the width of a pencil, or widen it by chewing. If you want to patch such holes, leave the patch smooth or the mouse will be able to pry it out.

Drinking
TAKING CARE OF THE BARTENDER
Tip your bartender at least a dollar a drink, preferably as you go, even at an open bar where you're not paying for the drinks. Increase that in a fancier place or big-city bar where the drinks approach or pass $10 each. You'll get better service and more generous pours on your refills, and maybe even a freebie.
