TESTING SAND FOR CEMENT
You can test the water content of sand by squeezing it into a ball with your fist. If it feels wet but won't form a ball, it contains about one-quarter of a gallon of water per cubic foot. If it will form a ball without soaking your hands, it has about half a gallon of water per cubic foot. Very wet sand is dripping wet and holds about three-quarters of a gallon of water per cubic foot.
