PERSONAL SPACE REQUIREMENT
Average personal physical space requirements for westerners: 24.5 inches on either side, 27.5 inches in front and 15.75 inches behind. Americans usually have larger personal space boundaries than people from other cultures. If you notice someone backing up a little while talking to you, don’t step toward them as they most likely feel uncomfortable with the lack of distance between you. People in high population areas require less personal space than those living in low population areas. People of higher status or wealth usually have larger personal space bubbles as well.
