DIAPER BAG PACKING
Always pack two more diapers than you think you need. Your child will poop more if you don't pack extra, less if you do. Better to lug the extra around than to be stranded with a poopy baby.

ANGER IS REALLY FEAR
Author Spider Robinson notes that anger is always fear in disguise. When dealing with someone who is angry, try figuring out what they fear.

CALCULATING TIME UNTIL SUNSET
If the sun is going down, you can tell how many minutes you have left until it hits the horizon by extending your arm towards the sun with your palm facing you, and count the number of fingers you can fit between the sun and the horizon: each finger counts for five minutes.

Trees
RED PINE VS. WHITE PINE CLASSIFICATION
You can distinguish between a red pine tree and a white pine tree by plucking a cluster of needles. The number of needles correlates directly to the number of letters in the name of the pine tree. If there are three needles its a a red pine, and if there are five needles its a white pine.

ADVANCE PLANNING
To determine how far in the future it's safe to plan vacations and holidays with a new relationship partner, never plan more months in advance than you've been together.

STAYING WARM ON A COLD NIGHT
Roll up tomorrow's clothes and put them on either side of the foot end of your sleeping bag. It creates an "oven" for your feet, keeping them away from the outside air. Dress in your pre-heated clothes inside the bag before exiting in the morning.
