DRIVING IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY
Slow down for donkeys, speed up for goats, and stop for cows. Donkeys will get out of your way, it's almost impossible to hit a goat, and it's almost impossible to avoid hitting a cow.

SHOOTING AT HELICOPTERS
North Vietnamese ground troops used their thumbs to determine whether they could reach enemy aircraft with hand-held weapons. If an airplane or helicopter was bigger than a thumb held at arm's length, they could bring it down with ground fire.

WEARING OUT A YO-YO STRING
A new string is good for a bit over an hours worth of hard use by a pro. Twice as long for an intermediate yo-yo thrower, and half as long for a beginner.

REDUCE ACCESSORY CABLES
When purchasing cellphones, MP3 players, digital cameras and other peripherals, look for devices with mini USB jacks instead of custom cables. By choosing carefully, you can travel with a laptop and a single data cable to charge and connect everything.

SALARY
To quickly estimate the yearly salary of an hourly paid job, double the hourly wage (example: $10 an hour comes out to about $20K yearly). The amount of hours in a working year is 2080, so you'll be a little short, but still pretty close. To figure the rest multiply hourly age by 8, and add to the first figure.
