PLANNING AN ECLIPSE VACATION CROWD
There are between 6,000 and 10,000 people who will go halfway around the world to see a total solar eclipse, and maybe another 30-40 thousand who will check it out if it's a convenient trip. Travel agents who hype themselves into expecting crowds in the hundreds of thousands are dreaming; but they do it every time.

FINDING COMPANIONS
Do what you love. If you meet new people while you are doing that activity, you already have something in common. Don't meet people in bars, because your common ground is alcohol, and that's a bad start.

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES
For every ten people on a committee; three will do nothing, three will say they will do something and never do it and three will do the work of the committee. The final one will never attend another meeting.

SOOTHE ICE CREAM HEADACHES
Press your tongue flat against the roof of your mouth, covering as much as you can. "Since the nerves in the roof of your mouth get extremely cold, your body thinks your brain is freezing, too," says Abo. "In compensating, it overheats, causing an ice-cream headache." The more pressure you apply to the roof of your mouth, the faster your headache will subside.

BLACK WALNUT YIELD
Hulled (but not shelled) walnuts yield about 8-10% of nutmeats per pound. You will have to shell quite a few for your recipe!

CLEANING ANTIQUE WEAPONS
Anything a novice does to improve the looks of an antique weapon probably will lower its value or destroy it as a collector's piece.

GENERATING POWER
When generating power on a large scale, no more than 15 percent should come from any one source. Things get screwed up when more than 15 percent of a system is out of service.
