GATHERING WOOD FOR A FIRE
To build a campfire that will last long enough to cook meal and then some gather : Two generous hands full of tinder to light the fire; twigs no thicker than a pencil lead and about as long as the distance between the tip of your thumb to the tip of your little finger across your outstretched hand. A generous double armload of kindling to get the fire going; no thicker than your thumb and about as long as the distance from the crook of your elbow to the tip of your fingers. Fuel wood to keep the fire going; no thinner than your wrist, as long as your arm piled as high as your knee

CURE YOUR TOOTHACHE
Just rub ice on the back of your hand, on the V-shaped webbed area between your thumb and index finger. A Canadian study found that this technique reduces toothache pain by as much as 50 percent compared with using no ice. The nerve pathways at the base of that V stimulate an area of the brain that blocks pain signals from the face and hands.

LAWN MOWING TIPS
The fastest way to mow your lawn is a spiral. If you blow the grass on the uncut lawn, it will do the work of a mulcher. If you want the lawn to look good always mow it in a different direction. Reverse you direction on each strip you mow. This will better pick up the grass that was rolled down by the wheel on the prior trip.

RUNNING AN AD CAMPAIGN
If you get a good - or even lukewarm - response to an ad, it's always better to stick with the same copy than to change it.

TELLING A JOKE
Choosing the right inflection and tone of voice is important when telling a joke. It's also important to eliminate all unnecessary conjunctions. When in doubt, do Tonto.
