DON'T GO THERE
When an assailant intends to take you someplace else by force from the place of first encounter, the odds of your coming back alive are very poor. So fight hard for your life as soon as you find out the bad guy has a change of venue in mind; it’s about the only chance you’ve got.

SETTING THE WEIGHTS ON AN EXERCISE MACHINE
When you work out with an exercise machine, choose a weight setting that lets you do 8 to 12 repetitions comfortably. If you must struggle to get beyond 5, the setting is too heavy. If you complete 10 without feeling any fatigue at all, it is too light.

SIZING UP A SOFTWARE JOB

WATCHING YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE
Blood pressure levels vary with age and sex. A rule of thumb for estimating the normal systolic pressure in a male is to add 100 to the age of the patient, up to the level of 100 mm Hg.

MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
Sometimes a tube down the throat is used to restore free breathing. For an emergency guess, the diameter of a child's smallest finger is about the diameter of the largest endotracheal tube that he or she can be intubated with.
