GROUPING YOUR BULLETS
A gun shooting at its best usually produces round, uniform bullet patterns on a target. If your bullet groups are generally uniform but with an occasional random flyer, the problem is probably ammo. But if the flyers tend to go in the same direction, the problem is more likely caused by the rifle.

WRITING
The greater the sense of exultation and accomplishment upon completing the first draft of a work of fiction, the greater the need for revision.

SNAKEHOLING A BOULDER
You can blow up a boulder by digging underneath it and putting dynamite in the hole, a practice known as snakeholing. Use two sticks of dynamite for every foot of rock thickness.

USING THE TELEPHONE
If you want to get off the phone and the other person shows no sign of hanging up, say "I appreciate your calling." The caller usually gets the message.

Drinking
TAKING CARE OF THE BARTENDER
Tip your bartender at least a dollar a drink, preferably as you go, even at an open bar where you're not paying for the drinks. Increase that in a fancier place or big-city bar where the drinks approach or pass $10 each. You'll get better service and more generous pours on your refills, and maybe even a freebie.

PROCRASTINATING
If you were a procrastinator in high school, ignore everyone who tells you to stop in college-it will only set you up for failure. Continue to procrastinate, but be aware of the increased work load. Start 12 hours before a due date instead of six.

MOSQUITO BITES
To stop the itching of a mosquito bite, just rinse the bite in very hot water. If you do this in the morning the bite won't itch for about a day.

MAN OVERBOARD
In a regular, stern drive motor boat, while traveling forward, if a passenger falls out, steer INTO him. The rear (propeller) swings away. Test this by tossing a float out, first steer into it, then try it again, steering away. Do it in that order because the float will not survive you steering away from it!
