GETTING SOMEWHERE ON TIME
To make sure you get somewhere on time, double the estimated travel time for a trip of 10 minutes or less; add 15 minutes to a trip of 30 minutes or less; add 50 percent to a trip of 30 minutes to 2 hours; and add 25 to 30 percent to a trip of more than 2 hours.

TESTING THE TEXTURE OF DIRT
You can decide whether to disk harrow a field or not by balling up some dirt, holding it with both hands at arm's length, and dropping it. If the dirtball doesn't break, it is too wet to disk.

PRIORITIES WHEN LOST
When lost, most people worry about what they are going to eat. You can last a long time without eating and for most people in typical "lost" situations, they will be found fairly quickly. First priority is shelter, then water.

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR FUSES
If you are having some sort of random electrical problem, CHECK YOUR FUSES. It's quick and easy to do, and it'll save you from paying some mechanic for half an hour of labor for doing something you could have done yourself. This is the problem more often than a lot of people might realize.
