REJECTING THE FIRST HOTEL ROOM
When you check into a hotel, the front desk will give you the worst room they can get away with. (Because guests who check in later might be pickier than you.) So when you get the key, leave your bags and go inspect the room. Regardless of how the room looks, return to the desk and ask if they have anything else. 9 times out of 10, a better room will magically be available.
