PAYING A TOLL
Avoid the line with the motorcycle. The biker won't have the money ready. Instead, he'll have to dig into his pocket, and on a cold day he'll have to take off his gloves.

COUNTING GUNSHOTS
If you hear shots while hunting: One shot equals game bagged. Two shots equals game possibly bagged. Three shots means there's a chance game was bagged. Four shots means you're listening to a frustrated hunter.

HEMMING YOUR PANTS
An overexposed ankle or tons of fabric bunching up at the foot can take a cool pants outfit into “What was she thinking” territory instantly. So before you buy or hem your pants, size them up using this rule of thumb: In heels, your trouser cuff should clear the ground by no more than the diameter of a quarter (nearly an inch). In flats, they should hit just below the anklebone.
