ESTIMATING THE VALUE OF A MACHINE
The value of a machine is directly proportional to the amount of cast iron it contains. The more cast iron, the greater the value.

DON'T LEAVE EVERYTHING UP TO FLASH
Sure it's a great technology, but Flash has its limitations. Suppose you're publishing text-heavy articles — it makes no sense to try and do it all with Flash (HTML or even dHTML would be a much better choice since they're smaller and searchable). Whenever you find yourself relying too heavily on Flash's weak features, try layering Flash files with another Web technology that may do a better job (like dHTML, GIF, JPEG, or HTML)

HOW TO TELL NAVY BLUE FROM BLACK
Simple. If you have to ask yourself the question "Is it Navy or Black ?", then it's Navy. If it's Black, there's no dought. There's no mistaking the color

THE RULES OF THREE
You have to exercise at least three times a week. If you leave more than three days between exercise sessions, gains will be cancelled out; and three weeks is about how long it takes your body to adjust to a new level of exercise.

WRITING A COMPUTER PROGRAM
To write a good program, write and debug the entire program, get it documented and working perfectly, start over again from scratch based on what you learned the first time through. This process can be repeated as many as four times and still be cost effective, but you should always do it at least once.

WATCHING YOUR HEART RATE
Your maximum safe heart rate is equal to 220 minus your age. For example, a 40 year old would have a maximum heart rate of 220-40 = 180 beats per minute. Your target heart rate for aerobic exercise is equal to 160 minus your age. That's the number of beats per minute you need to maintain or exceed during aerobic workouts.
