NOVICE PROGRAMMER TIME ESTIMATION
A novice programmer will tell you that the project is 90% done during 90% of the project's life cycle. An outstanding programmer will do much better, but he'll never bet his own money on his estimations.

CONVERTING POUNDS OF JET FUEL TO GALLONS
To convert pounds of jet fuel to gallons, drop the zero and then add 50 percent to that. So, if you need 1,500 pounds of fuel, you would take 150 and then add half, or 75, which is 225 gallons (150 + 75).

MAKING A SPEECH
If in doubt - slow down. You probably won't go too wrong if you remember to slow down your speech and increase your pauses - even if you feel that you are doing this to an unnatural extent.

SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE
If you want to simplify your life, start by just getting rid of stuff. Stuff, has to be organized, kept out of the weather, stored, walked around, climbed over, moved, etc. . . just get rid of it if you haven't needed it for 5 years. Make the 5 years what ever you are comfortable with and stick to it.

YARN---HOW TO BUY
Skeins of yarn are sold by weight, not the number of yards in the skein. Very dark yarns require a lot of dye which makes them heavier, so you are buying less product than lighter-colored yarns. If you a knitting or crocheting an article with dark or black yarn, you should buy an extra skein of the same dye lot so you don't risk running short.
