PLAYING A THEREMIN
Place your theremin in front of a keyboard so you see the keys in the background of your "pitch" hand. Make a mental note of your hand position by what key you see in the background in relation to your thumb. It won't actually correspond to the same pitch but it's a very handy way to make note of your hand position.

NEED AN EXTRA 5 MILES ON FINAL?
A loop will get you 5, every time. If you have two guys stacked on final (both same distance from the runway) give the guy that's at the higher altitude a loop and you'll end up with 5 nautical miles between them when the first guy crosses the landing threshold.
Chick, ATCS

BUYING ANTIQUES
Don't buy antique wooden-wear that smells like vinegar. Chances are, it's a reproduction.

TRACKING AN EMOTIONAL PROBLEM
If you suspect someone has an emotional problem, look for the person who aggravates him or her the most. If it's another person with an emotional problem - bingo!

SELLING SOFTWARE
A new hardware product will start to sell two to three months sooner than a new software product. That's because hardware is built to solve obvious needs, like lack of memory. Software is designed to solve less obvious needs. No one believes software will work until they read a product review.

SAVING YOUR PLUMBING
If you turn off your tap too hard, it will damage the rubber washer - which you can replace easily. If you let the tap drip, it will erode the metal valve seat - which means a new tap and a plumber to install it.

ESTIMATING ENERGY USE
Different species consume the same energy per body weight for similar movements. A step for a human is equivalent to a wing flap for a bird or a tail flip for a fish.
