USING YOUR NOSE TO AVOID CONTAMINATION
If a material has any "scent" - it's "outgassing" and cannot be used for space applications where cleanliness is important.

PAINTING YOUR HOME
There is nothing more expensive than a cheap paint brush. The added coverage you'll get from the first two gallons of paint will easily make up the difference in cost. Plus you get to enjoy using a fine tool!

MAINTAINING AND REPAIRING YOUR HEDGE
If you want to be prepared for fixing your hedge when one of the bushes needs replacing, don’t wait until it happens. If you’re just planting the hedge, plant several “spares”, with sun able to get to them on all sides. Then, when one needs replacing, and it will happen, you have a great replacement even if it’s the end bush. Don’t forget to trim them when ever you trim the main hedge. If it’s an established hedge, buy some replacements now, fertilize and water them to get them up to size as quickly as possible so that you can keep your hedge looking uniform.

THE WEEKEND SAILOR'S RULE
The distance traveled in 3 minutes, measured in yards, divided by 100, equals your speed in knots. Conversely, your speed in knots, times 100, is how many yards you will travel in 3 minutes. Here's an example: 15 knots equals 1,500 yards every 3 minutes.
