EATING PIZZA IN EUROPE
When eating pizza at a restaurant in Europe, always use a knife and fork, not your hands, or you'll be regarded as a slob with no manners. When in Rome...

DRINKING THE WATER
If staying more than two weeks in a country with suspected food or water, go for it! The worst symptoms the average person gets is a day or two of diarrhea (usually none) and you'll find that the local cuisine is always cheaper and better tasting than that found in tourist restaurants. As a plus, your new-found gastronomic freedom will greatly expand your available travel destinations to virtually anywhere in the country, and you'll make more local friends instead of hobnobbing with other tourists.

GUESSING WHAT TRACK YOUR TRAIN DEPARTS
People wait to see what track there train departs on (posted 15 minutes before) and all rush as soon as it becomes public. Use the train's number and you can guess the track by the arrival. Example: Everyone's waiting to see what track the Montrealer will depart out of Penn Station. If the train's number is 1307 then check to see what track 1307 is meant to arrive on first. Generally arrival assignments are known and held before departure assignments are made public. To the public the train is usually identified by it's destination and not route number.

WHEN IN AMSTERDAM DON'T WEAR...
Amsterdams beggar population is unlike any in the world, they beg in 5 languages and have keen skills for picking prey. Bandannas worn on the head is a very "American" style statement to make and they will lock onto you in a second! (because you are a "rich" American of course) Leave your bandanna in your pocket and enjoy slightly fewer hassles from Amsterdams Beggars (They will still beg - but with somewhat less intensity)

KILOMETERS TO MILES AND VICE VERSA
To convert miles to kilometers, double the number of miles four times, then divide by ten. To convert kilometers to miles, halve the number of km four times, then multiply by ten. Depending on how much rounding you need to do in your replique montre Breitling Avenger, this should give an answer within 1% of the actual figure. Also works to convert between MPH and KMPH

FINDING SATISFACTION AT A HOTEL OR RESTAURANT
If the bar at a hotel is well laid-out, well-stocked, and the bartender is able to be both professional and friendly, I can look forward to my stay. The same can be said of restaurants.
